Odd in October

October has always been a fascinating and confusing month for me. It is the beginning of the mark of the end. It is the time of the year where numerically the month is represented by double digits. During the month all your choices of the year have settled in. If you are a student you kinda have a feel for your new environment. You have categorized everyone in your head. You have decided what classes and instructors are hard or easy. You have probably given your classmates adjectives in your head to help you remember their names such as, tall Sara vs short Sarah or silly Brian vs serious Bryan.

The same is true for adults. According to Top Resume website (topresume.com), "The changing season, represents the third, and final, hiring spree of the year. Families return from vacation, schools reopen after a three-month hiatus and work resumes its normal course. During these months, everyone tends to be more refreshed and relaxed, making the entire process of getting or starting a job much smoother and faster."

In October the spirit of harvest and love is in the air. Depending on where you live, me Michigan, the weather is playing with your emotions. In the day you can wear a cardigan at night its a hoodie or a jacket. Women are literally wearing sun dresses on Saturday and boots with pea coats on Sunday. Also, in the middle of the month we have a day called Sweetest Day to remind people to love. Along with the bi-polar weather we also have the colorful changing leaves that fall to the ground, leaving a beautiful pile of labor for someone to remove.

Plus the ultimate reward of getting various forms of delicious approval. It was so defying to walk around masked from the world doing a combination of the very things your parents tell you not to do all year: Being out at night, talking to strangers and taking candy from them. October it is an odd month indeed.
